Jerry Lee

Jerry Lee joined WBEB-FM at its inception in 1963. After a few years, he became partners with Founder, David Kurtz. Within 4 1/2 months, it was the #1 FM in Philadelphia.

At a time when no one believed in FM radio, Jerry lead the charge with one innovation after another, to literally, put FM on the map. He received the NAB National Radio Award, the Giants in Broadcasting award, the PAB Gold Medal. He was elected to the PAB Hall of Fame, the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame and Broadcasting & Cable’s Hall of Fame.

In 2000, he founded the Jerry Lee Center of Criminology at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2007, he founded the Jerry Lee Centre of Experimental Criminology at the University of Cambridge. He also created the Stockholm Prize in Criminology.  Jerry was knighted by the King of Sweden for his work in establishing the Stockholm Prize.
