Bold Gold Media Group station listeners in the Pocono Lake/Wilkes Barre-Scranton region of Pennsylvania filled trucks with toys and raised thousands of dollars for charities December 19. The Northeast PA media group staged two, simultaneous fundraising promotions to benefit the Children’s Christmas Bureau and the Zipper Junction Project, a local non-profit.
The Wayne County Ford and Bold Gold Media Holiday Toy Drive Challenge saw listeners fill six Ford pick-up trucks with toys, with the dealership filling the seventh. The Shower for Charity saw Michael G. Stanton, GM taking a four hour shower on Main Street in downtown Honesdale, PA; raising $20,000.
“It’s profoundly moving how generous of a community we have in Northeast Pennsylvania and how much they support our stations efforts,” said Vince Benedetto, Bold Gold President. “Several years ago, when we made the decision to attempt to do two large fundraising efforts concurrently, we wondered if both could be successful, but our listeners rally every year and the promotions continue to get bigger. Live, local radio is alive and booming in Northeast PA.”
This year marked the 17th annual Shower for Charity, which has raised more than $250,000 over the years.
