iHeartMedia Pittsburgh celebrated the career of McDowell with a final broadcast Wednesday on WDVE in Pittsburgh. Special guests appeared including Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto as well as current WDVE personalities Randy Baumann, Val Porter and Michele Michaels and voices from WDVE’s past, Jimmy Roach, Herschel and Kenny Gibbs.
In addition, local TV celebrities, local entertainment and industry friends as well as musician Donnie Iris attended the celebratory event. During the final broadcast, McDowell was also presented with a proclamation from Mayor Peduto, naming July 31, as Sean McDowell Day in the city of Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh Steelers honored McDowell at the event, gifting him with a honorary Pittsburgh Steelers jersey as well as a special phone call from the Pittsburgh Steelers owner, Art Rooney II, at the final broadcast party. Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, July 30, McDowell also received a proclamation from Pittsburgh City Council and on Monday, July 29 a Key to the City from the Boro of Greentree where the station’s on-air studio is located.
