WOKW personality Bob Day was a fixture on the Central Pennsylvania airwaves for over 50 years, making him an iconic broadcaster in the region. He passed away on October 18 at age 71.

Mr. Day began his career on December 14, 1967 at WCPA-AM in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. In January 2007, he joined the staff at WOKW 102.9FM and was a vital part of their “family,” on-air six days a week and performing a great deal of behind-the-scenes work.

Along with with his time on the radio, Mr. Day donated countless hours to the community volunteering as well as serving on boards and committees.

Mr. Day is survived by his wife Jackie, son Matt, and grandchildren.

WOKW did a tribute show in Mr. Day’s time slot last Sunday, and will be re-running his first show with the station this coming Sunday, October 28, and for the next two Sundays will be airing 1960s and 70s recordings of Bob Day on the air.

A scholarship in his name is being planned for a young person entering the communication field.
