WQED is seeking a community minded leader to help us produce and promote content that showcases
arts and culture organizations in Pittsburgh and across southwestern Pennsylvania. You should be

that educate, entertain and inspire our neighbors in Pittsburgh and across southwestern Pennsylvania.
In 1954, we launched the country’s first community supported television station a forerunner to
PBS. We are the television home of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and honor the program’s legacy by
c celebrating people who solve problems and do good in our communities. Our classical radio station is
celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Compensation
Benefits:
The
annual compensation band for this full time position is 50,000 to 70,000 commensurate with
experience. The following benefits apply to this role: Health insurance via UPMC’s Business Advantage
plan ($500 deductible, with premiums on a wage based sliding scale). WQED pays 100% of the
premiums for: Delta Dental PPO, long term disability insurance from The Hartford, and basic life
insurance at 1.5X salary. We offer optional vision insurance through Vision Benefits of America. After
12 months, WQED also contributes 5% of employees’ salary to a 403(b) retirement plan managed by
TIAA CREF All benefits are subject to change.
Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:
Produce, edit, and conduct radio/video interviews with members of local cultural organizations, such as RAD-supported organizations for local performances and RAD days for the Voice of the Arts Podcast and You Tube.
Create a more consistent structure for the intro/outro of the Voice of the Arts podcast.
Create engaging and new original compositions and sound design for the Voice of the Arts podcast and on-air promos.
Organize long-term projects, such as creating a 50th anniversary CD that includes performances from over 10 different organizations in the Pittsburgh region.
Maintain professional connections with cultural organizations in the Pittsburgh region.
Coordinate live on-air performances and interviews with both hosts during the week.
Learn to create and edit Enco playlists.
Help with coordination of live or taped performances in our studio.
Digitize, edit, and maintain an archive of tape from the 1980s to the early 2000s in various formats (DAT, reel-to-reel, cassette, CD).
Post on FM’s social media platforms as needed.
Assist with FM programs such as Pittsburgh Symphony Radio; Performance in Pittsburgh; Pittsburgh Opera Preview; etc.
Provide additional on-air and production support during FM pledge drives.
Write scripts and edit fundraising spots that describe pledging gifts in FM’s next donation drive.
Other duties as needed.
Required
Required education and skills:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
2–44years of radio production experience required.
Knowledge of programming techniques.
Excellent communication skills are necessary.
Knowledge of Classical Musica plus.
